Community Programming & Festival Management Mentorship Opportunity

September 29th – November 30th (9 weeks) 

Greywood Arts is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity for hands-on education and training working within a successful arts organisation in rural Ireland. Our mentorship program is open to artists looking to expand their practice to include arts management and who would benefit from practical experience. 

In autumn 2024, the participant will contribute to the production, promotion and delivery of: 

  • Samhain Lights: willow lantern making, installation of a light art sculpture over the River Dissour, and a lantern parade into Glenbower Wood 
  • Youth STEAM education programme for primary schools & Greywood’s Youth Art Club 
  • Space Fest: a Science Week festival that brings together the art and science of space, at the National Space Centre & locations in Cork City. This includes a Space Fest artist residency in the lead up to the festival. 
  • Inclusive Arts programme 

Mentorship Includes:

  • Training on the operations of an artist residency and a small arts centre. 
  • Hands-on experience of programming, promotion, social media, funding applications and reporting, and project management.
  • Mentorship to set goals for your mentorship period. We aim to tailor your experience to help you achieve these objectives and support you to develop the skills relevant to those goals.
  • Opportunities to share your work / skills with the Greywood Arts community.
  • A letter of reference for employment  applications. 

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Programme and event design, planning, implementation & support.
  • Communication with artists and audiences.
  • Social media management.
  • Calendar maintenance.
  • Archive maintenance.
  • Event management, including set up & break down.
  • Assistance with grant writing / reporting.
  • Artist Residency management.

We ask that the participant: 

  • Work 25 hours/week, spread across the Greywood office, events, and facilities management as needed. There will be a greater time commitment required during the week of Space Fest. 
  • Has basic computer skills. 
  • Is flexible and able to take on a variety of roles, especially leading up to/during larger events and festivals.
  • Is on-site for 9 weeks. 

This is a voluntary role, however Greywood Arts will provide a stipend of €500 towards living expenses. 

Self-catering accommodation is provided on-site, including a private bedroom with a desk for personal creative work and shared kitchen, garden and living spaces in our artist residency.   

There is flexibility to arrive earlier / depart later than the dates above.
