“Idir an Dá Linn / Meanwhile / Between the Two Lakes” is a collaborative project with Basil Al-Rawi, Mícheál Ó Catháin, Philip Ryan, Glenbower Wood & Lake Committee and Greywood Arts that aims to recreate the lake that once was at the centre of Glenbower Wood through an exhibition, events and a community keen.

Keening Walk & Workshop with Mícheál Ó Catháin
Monday 18 August, 6:30–8:30pm
Meet at Greywood Arts – Booking Encouraged

A final twilight walk and participatory singing workshop with Mícheál Ó Catháin in Glenbower Wood. Participants will revisit two original compositions developed with the community over the summer: Deisiúir, honouring the townlands and trees along the River Dissour, and Caoineadh Idir an Dá Linn, a contemporary community keen woven from traditional lament and Irish water-words.

No experience needed —you are welcome to come and listen.

Remembering the Lake
Thursday 21 August, 7:00–9:00pm

A relaxed, informal gathering hosted by the Glenbower Wood & Lake Committee, where community members are invited to speak about the lake; what it gave, what it meant, and what still lingers. Come hear fond memories of Glenbower Lake, and contribute your own. This is a chance to gather around what the lake once was, and what it still means to those who remember.

Heritage Walk with Paudrig Lee
Saturday 23 August, 3:00–5:00pm
Meet at Greywood Arts – Booking Encouraged

Join local historian and committee member Paudrig Lee for a guided walk through Glenbower Wood. Learn about the social, ecological, and cultural history of the area, including the story of the lake and its loss.

Sunday Souvenir Workshop with Ruby Aron & Philip Ryan
Sunday 24 August, 1:30–3:00pm – Booking Required (limited to 8 places)

Help shape the upcoming bilingual publication reflecting on Glenbower Lake. Bring personal memories, photos, or objects and take part in the design process. Participants will also have the chance to create and take home a small keepsake.

Community Keen / Caoineadh Pobail
Sunday 24 August, 5:00–6:30pm
Meet at Greywood Arts – Booking Encouraged

A culminating public performance on Water Heritage Day featuring the community-collaboration Caoineadh Idir an Dá Linn and Deisiúir. Join us in honouring the lake and the enduring presence of the River Dissour and Glenbower Wood through voice and collective resonance.

Followed by “Gather Round,” a gathering to celebrate and share a meal around the community created tablecloth made of upcycled, hand dyed, ebroidered and appliquéd linens.

• Selected archival material

Visitors are invited throughout the week to meet with the artists and contribute personal stories, photographs, or objects to help shape a bilingual publication and short film as part of the project. People can also contribute remotely and online at http://idirandalinn.com
