Announcing the Cosmic Debris Artists-in-Residence

We are thrilled to announce the Cosmic Debris artists-in-residence for 2024! Joining forces for this year’s immersive and thought-provoking project are Kerry Guinan (IE), Nicholas Carn (UK), and Luisa Charles (UK). This dynamic team will take part in an immersive exhibition for SpaceFest, running November 15–17, 2024.

Set beneath the iconic 32-metre Big Dish at the National Space Centre, this year’s exibition focuses on space debris, inviting audiences to explore the issues surrounding defunct human-made objects in orbit. The Cosmic Debris Residency offers these artists and scientists a unique opportunity to delve into how humanity’s relationship with the universe is shaped by space debris and the wonders of the cosmos.

The artists travelled to Cork for an Incubator Week in August and visited Blackrock Castle Observatory, UCC’s Crawford Observatory, and of course the National Space Centre. They will return to Greywood Arts for a month-long collaborative residency for the creation of the exhibition.
