Carr will share work on the night. Casting Deep Shade is a passionate, poetic exploration of humanity’s shared history with the beech tree. Fri 28th, 8-10pm: Clothing Swap & Shop Everyone’s favourite fundraiser is back! A fun & stylish night of clothes swapping and shopping. Bring up to five excellent quality, pre-loved garments to exchange for something new in the wardrobe. We’ll also have a beautiful collection of accessories from local vendors. All funds raised support Greywood’s spring community projects in collaboration with St. Fergal’s NS, Inch Foroige, Scouts & the Monday Club.

- Yarn Bombing Crochet Workshop
Workshops kick off on Thursday October 3rd with a two-part Yarn Bombing Crochet Workshop (second session Thursday October 10th) from 7-9:30pm (€20 for both sessions). Learn to make granny squares, pom-poms and other small shapes for installation in a public place in Killeagh village. Beginners and experienced crocheters welcome!*** Fully Booked *** - Street Art Workshop for Teens On Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th of October we have a Street Art Workshop for secondary school students. It’s an opportunity for young people to voice what’s on their mind and share these thoughts with the community by respectfully making a mark on the village. - Framing the Landscape Last but not least, we have a really special opportunity for families to create a public art work with on Sunday October 13th from 2-5pm. In this hands-on afternoon inspired by the work of Unexpected Spaces public art resident Robert Hais, we will playfully explore what we see and how we look at the world around us. MARCH 29 8PM: Within These Walls Ladder Residency Sharing & work-in-progress by photographer Carlos ARL 
What, you ask, is a Ladder Residency? It’s an experiment we came up with where four artists working in different media have mini-residencies in succession. Each person’s work springboards off that by the artists before them. And we can’t wait to share what they come up with! Featuring writer Alisa Renukova who is here from Estonia, as well as dancer & somatic movement practitioner Laura O’Brien, visual artist Sarah Buckley & textile artist Loo Stepney Power. Photographer-in-residence this month, Carlos ARL, will also share some of his work-in-progress. In true Greywood style, it will be a fun evening of exchange, ideas, conversation, and getting nitty-gritty about creative process. And, it’s FREE! See you at 8pm.

APRIL 12 8PM: Dancing Landscapes A screening of films by Hannah R.W. Hamalian 41 minutes
This collection of seven short films from animator and filmmaker Hannah R.W. Hamalian offers reflections on the ways that the space we inhabit can be seen as more than just a setting, but as a context for reassessing assumptions about being. Using movement and sound as symbols for the complexities of experience, each film offers a different way to answer the question: why and how do we become who we are?
Hannah R.W. Hamalian is an animator and filmmaker based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. She uses animation, appropriated videos, and collaborations with dancers to ask questions and present abstract narratives. Her work has screened and shown at festivals internationally, including KLIK Amsterdam Animation Festival, Athens International Film and Video Festival (Ohio, USA), and the Squeaky Wheel Animation Fest (New York, USA). She received her BA from Carleton College and her MFA from UW-Milwaukee.
MAY 3-6, 2019: Creative Killeagh May Sunday Festival is back!
We’ll kick off Friday night with lantern making, the torchlight procession & storytelling with Noelle O’Regan. The rest of the weekend will bring music, guided walks in Glenbower Wood, art workshops, traditional games, an intergenerational dance performance, and of course the Open Air Dance on May Sunday!

Bring your favourite dish to share and a copy of your recipe. Together, we’ll design a recipe collection with instructions and traditions relating to your meal. All are welcome to bring a homemade dish or beverage – from your own culture or another that interests you. Be prepared to share a little about the ingredients used and any traditions surrounding the food’s preparation and consumption. Each person will get a template to write their recipe and to share some information about their dish. We want to hear your stories and memories of eating it, or about the traditional cooking and serving of the meal. Materials to illustrate or decorate the page will be on hand. Greywood Arts will compile all of the recipes and publish an e-cookbook the following week. Greywood Arts will provide dishes and cutlery, plus a few gas burners to keep things warm. 21 April: The Last Vault by Creative Killeagh Artist-in-the-Community Residency Sara French Have you ever imagined a world where money was extinct? This inconceivable premise is what set the groundwork for artist in residence, Sara French. Her final hurrah at Greywood invites the public to immerse their frugal selves into the setting of a pub where money has no meaning, no value, and no place. Visitors will have to barter a story, song, joke, trick, or game to gain an artisan beverage made during the residency. Participants from the workshops will be afoot discussing their experience of making bitters and designing material-less games. To conclude the evening, the artist will perform a short play set in a post-tender world.

2017 PAST EVENTS: 26-31 Oct: W O O D S H O P & Creative Killeagh launch Creative Killeagh kicks off next week with artist-in-residence Léann Herlihy. W O O D S H O P is a collaborative art project that explores craft and social values. Motivated by the materials, skills, and practices of Killeagh’s former sawmills, Léann will lead craftsmanship workshops, give an artist talk, and create a performance. ARTIST TALK & SCREENING: Thursday 26th October 2017, 7PM Held in the relaxed environment of the Greywood Arts library, Léann Herlihy will lead a conversation around her artist practice. Here, she will give us an insight into her thought process, as she discusses her concepts and motives while creating work – a fantastic opportunity! The evening will close with a screening of one of David Shaw-Smith’s unique documentaries, HANDS. Shaw-Smith’s captures traditional rural and urban life in Ireland during the seventies and eighties, imbued by a sense of urgency to record crafts in their natural surroundings before they disappeared completely. WORKSHOPS: Saturday, 28th October 2017, 2 – 5PM Monday, 30th October 2017, 10AM – 1PM W O O D S H O P will consist of two separate workshops, held in the spacious art studio at Greywood Arts. The workshops will give the basic outlines of how to construct a rocking chair, but encourage creativity and spontaneous thinking. The assemblage of chairs will be safe and supervised, with the main joining method being similar to a jig-saw puzzle, with each puzzle piece having endless possibilities to create new and abstract forms of rocking chairs. Safety equipment will be provided, with each individual kitted out as a professional carpenter! This collection of rocking chairs will be exhibited at the Creative Killeagh Programme Launch, with each individual’s signature on their artwork as a memoir to their creativity. It is not necessary to attend both workshops, but you wouldn’t want to miss out on the fun, tea and cakes if you can make both! We welcome families and individuals of all ages (1-100 years!). Construction will be child-friendly, but children must be accompanied by an adult. PERFORMANCE & CREATIVE KILLEAGH LAUNCH: Tuesday, 31st October 2017, time 8PM To end the artist-in-residence programme, Léann Herlihy will realise a performance on Halloween night, in conjunction with the programme launch of Creative Killeagh. Herlihy’s performance will explore the ritual of rocking, incorporating the rocking chairs made during the workshops prior to the performance. This will be an interactive performance, where the artist will encourage audience participation. The night will consist of traditional Halloween festivities, with campfires and treats! This will be a fun and intriguing evening for the entire family as we kick off a series of community arts events which will culminate on May Sunday, 2018. This residency, workshops & performance are supported by Cork County Council and Creative Ireland.
Culture Night Friday 22nd September 5-6:30pm: The Bureau of Surrealist Enquiries Welcome to the Bureau of Surrealist Enquiries, Greywood Arts’ interactive family-friendly evening making surrealist art, collages and writing surreal poems. Learn about the 20th century revolutionary cultural movement that aimed to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind – and enjoy a surreal snack! Come up to our art studio to learn a little about famous surrealists like André Breton, Salvator Dalí, and René Magritte. Surrealism features the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur – ideas go straight from the subconscious to the page, without regard to rules or expectations. We will try out automatic drawing, collage-making, and the “exquisite corpse” technique for creating collaborative drawings and poems. Then, we’ll share the results with each other. Get surreal with us for Culture Night!
Saturday 26 August @ 6pm: Heritage Week Baroque Music Concert The Cork Baroque Players in association with Cork County Council Arts Office and National Heritage Week Present: Gunpowder, Gulliver, Grounds and the Greats: A madcap medley of Baroque music, from depictions of Gulliver’s Travels and Italian battle scenes to works by masters Bach and Vivaldi performed on period instruments.
